Repair Cafe: Learn how to Fix Your Clothes

Repair Cafe: Learn how to Fix Your Clothes In-Person

In this fast-paced world, it can be easy to discard broken items, but there are some things you should repair instead of replacing. Not only is it more cost-effective to repair things yourself, but it's better for the environment. In this beginner workshop for tweens, teens, and adults, attendees will learn some basic, but essential, hand-sewing repair skills. Learn how to sew on a button, hem a piece of fabric, and mend or darn a hole. All supplies will be provided, but attendees are welcome to bring an article of fabric to work on that they need to learn how to mend.

Presenter: Karis Welsh. Karis took a clothing construction class in high school, and since then, has developed a love of repairing old items, even more than constructing new ones. Karis is the current President of the Friends of the Merrimack Public Library a member of the Merrimack Conservation Committee.
